The medical aid environment received a timely boost Monday when citizen owned Botlhe Medical Aid which is legally registered in Botswana, opened shop in the city's central business district.
"We realised that there is a gap within the health care hence we came into existence to close the gap," said Kenosi Radiporo, Director of Botlhe Medical Aid. He said, "It also caters for some traditional ailments such as thobega, Phogwana etc."
According to Radiporo the medical aid cover from Botlhe ranges from P14,000 to P20,000 per annum based on the number of dependants and pays 90% plus vat on behalf of member.
"It also has cash back if not claimed in 3 years," revealed Radiporo. Botlhe Medical Aid also have classic cover at P370 000 per annum. This enables 20% cash back, pays 90% plus vat. Additionally it has P250 000 dread cover.
Another niche product is executive medical aid cover which is P885 000 per annum and will pay 90% plus vat. It is divided into Package A and Package B. Package B has 20% cash back whilst package A has 10% cash back if membership has not claimed for 3 years.
Botlhe medical aid cover is allegedly designed to provide affordable health cover for all, whilst ensuring relatively high benefits for low premiums, cash back opportunities, with no limits on number of dependants and improved freedom of choice on dependants
Those seeking specialized dentistry medical cover will have to wait 12 months to benefit, maternity at least 9 months and new born babies can be registered within 2 months. "There is no limit in number and relations of dependants," said Radiporo.
Botlhe Medical Aid scheme has an optional savings option which can be innovatively used to pay medical expenses if benefits have been exhausted else it matures after 10 years.
